Considering last month didn’t go to plan at all, this month has far exceeded all expectations!
It got off to a flying start and smashed through the original goal for the month of £1,500 by the 16th of September – I had work coming at me from every direction for the first two weeks or so and then it gradually trailed off towards the end of the month, which has been quite a welcome break to be honest.
I managed to bring in an extra £2,409.82 in September. It’s important to note that this is before deductions – I pay tax on all my side hustle/self-employed earnings so put away around 25% a month to go towards my tax return.
Reponsdent.io – £72.01 – How to earn money with Respondent.io
I did a market research call with an American company right at the start of the month, it took bout 45mins and was an interactive research call where I tested out a new website for them – it was really interesting as it was for a website we’re all familiar with (can’t say much else as I signed an NDA) and I’m excited to see if its an update that goes ‘live’ in the future
Freelance Services (Etsy SEO, Product Photography, Social Media Services, Website Building) – £137.50
I didn’t do much freelance work at all this month as I was focusing more on my own blogging work. The majority of freelance work that I did do though was product photography for BebeBoxes and finishing off a website build for BebeMakes.
September has been a very good month from blogging, I had the majority of my work come in in the first fortnight or so which made for a very busy start to the month and it’s trailed off a lot towards the end.
Affiliates Earnings – £274.77 – What Is Affiliate Marketing?
This was payouts from 4 different affiliate schemes this month, two are for Matched Betting, one is for Design Bundles (which is promoted on CraftHustleDirectory) and the fourth was a surprise one for the hosting company I use! If anyone asks me about blogging I always suggest going with the hosting company Dreamhost as I’ve used them for ages and they are fantastic, I hadn’t realised that someone had used my affiliate link so that was a nice little chunk of money to get come in.
I still haven’t worked on my affiliate marketing strategy, it’s not the sort of thing you can plan in an evening so I think it’ll be a job I put off for a bit longer yet, maybe once I have the rest of my content planned for the year and a clear idea of where I want the blogs to go then I’ll be able to come up with something, but for now I’ll just let it carry on as it has been.
Sponsored Posts – £1,925.54
I am just as amazed at this number as anyone else is! I think a lot of it has been a case of my hard work over furlough paying off and resulting in some nice jobs coming in and also the fact that people seem to have got a bit more of an advertising budget available now.
This total includes what I earn in my role as a Brand Ambassador for Design Bundles and a nice chunk of earnings from a website called Intellifluence which I discovered this month – you have to input some details about yourself, your blog or social channels and it’ll show you jobs you can apply for on their platform. It takes a little while to get used to the application system but I managed to make $460 in around 5 days from the jobs posted on there 👍
Plans for October
I’m not too sure at the moment! I feel like I’ve struck a good balance with how I’m managing being back at work full time and getting bits done in the evenings and on weekends (it’s not easy but I’m doing ok). I’ve got some bits I’ve been meaning to sort out for a while such as a theme redesign for my main blog and trying to sort content plans for the rest of the year which I think might take priority at the start of the month. I’ve not pitched for any new work and I’m not feeling the urge to either so I think October might be a bit of a ‘life admin’ month and I’ll take on any bits and pieces that come in but I might not actively seek out new work…can you tell I’m feeling particularly worn out as I’m writing this 😂
