So, last month I told you things were all change here at Musha HQ as my full-time freelance role had come to an end and I was having a little panic. Ultimately I chose to see the positives and I was planning to use it as a reason to push on with my other projects and side hustles. Well…
…that all went out the window again 😂
In mid-June, I was contacted by a company I’d worked with previously asking if I’d be interested in working directly with them handling content creation and tutorials for their blog…basically being paid to be a craft blogger again, so of course I couldn’t say no to that!
That means I now have a full-time income again (which has taken a lot of pressure off!) but it also means I’m back to working on side hustles on evenings and weekends again which is fine by me as it’s how I’ve been running things for the past few years anyway!
As a result of all the ups and downs this past few weeks my eye hasn’t really been on the ball so my side hustle income is down quite a bit but it’s given me a lot of time to re-focus on what I’m planning to do going forward.
Almost 45% of this months income is passive income! That’s the first time it’s ever been that high which just reiterates how important developing some more passive income streams is for me, especially if I end up having some more down months work-wise
I managed to bring in an extra £943.61 in July
It’s important to note that this is before deductions – I pay tax on all my side hustle/self-employed earnings so put away around 25% a month to go towards my tax return.
Also, it’s worth remembering that the incomes stated here are based on when invoices got paid so even though it’s down as July income it for invoices that might have covered work from June.
Social Media & Community Management – £204.40
Same old same old with the Facebook Community management, the group is slowly growing month on month and we’re finding a lot of new ways to use the community to help promote the client’s app!
Affiliates Earnings – £422.29 – What Is Affiliate Marketing?
It’s been another fab month for affiliate income! This is a combination of just 2 affiliate/referral schemes that both had boosted sign up offers in the past month, I promoted both of the offers in my Facebook group which created a lot of sign-ups.
The beauty of affiliate income is that it’s pretty much passive income (after the first initial post is done)and if you utilise your methods of promotion right you can make a lot of money from very little work! I’m determined to make this kind of income a bigger source of money for myself going forward, it requires a bit more effort upfront but then frees up time and money later on for me to be able to put back into my business.
If you’re interested in learning more about how affiliate marketing really works and how to do it well as a blogger then I’d highly recommend looking at the Affiliate Marketing for Bloggers ebook by Neesha, I’ve used the book to help me boost my affiliate income recently and Neesha is so helpful if you have any questions or need some feedback on an idea – use code ‘charlottemusha’ to get 30% off the ebook!
Intellifluence – £62.29
Another payment from Intellifluence this month, it was for a job I did in mid-June but the payments get made at funny times of the month. I’m finding Intellifluence a bit hit and miss at the moment as there isn’t a ton of opportunities on there but I do still try to check in once a week or so.
Numbrs PayDay Winnings – £41.33 – Is Numbrs PayDay Legit or a Scam?
The Numbrs Payday draws have finally ended (but they have promised it’ll be back at some point!) My total winnings over the past few months is now over $4000!
Etsy – £213.30 – Handmade Custom Cushions from Living Cushty on Etsy
Living Cushty was keeping me very busy at the start of July with a nice flurry of orders coming in. I haven’t actively been promoting or listing new products on Etsy for the past few weeks though as work and life were getting in the way a bit. I love doing creative things like designing and making the cushions but it’s very time intensive and I feel like I’ve not got the balance right yet between that, working, blogging and everything else. The shop will keep ticking in the background whilst I find my new work pattern and then I’ll come back to it a bit more I think.
Plans for August
It’s going to be a really busy month for us – my sister is getting married and I’m helping with a lot of the wedding decor and set-up, we’ve got plans almost every weekend, I’m settling into my new work role, I just bought 8 new domains to try and get blogs up and running on (in my defence that was before I got a full-time job again) and we’ve got a household to run still.
I also got diagnosed with ADHD in June which has been a big ‘thing’ to try and process, it’s meant giving myself some more leeway when I’m not feeling focused on projects and just trying to be kinder to myself overall. Trying to find the balance between home life, work-life and side hustles is really hard to manage at the moment so I’m just trying to do what I can and not put too much pressure on myself.
