December was a lot busier than I expected it to be, I feel like I’ve not stopped!
Thankfully this month has been a lot less stressful than last month – our mortgage offer got reapproved after going through an appeal process with the bank which was fantastic news and everything is now with the solicitors so it’s just a waiting game over the next few weeks until it’s all sorted fully.
I haven’t been actively seeking out new work as there has been a lot on my plate as it is and I didn’t get to spend as much time on some of the blog admin jobs as I wanted to but it’s all turned out ok and I’ve smashed my goal of making £2,020 in December
I managed to bring in an extra £2,329.40 in December. It’s important to note that this is before deductions – I pay tax on all my side hustle/self-employed earnings so put away around 25% a month to go towards my tax return.
Freelance Services
Social Media Community Management – £206.60
The group I manage has really grown this month, I’m not sure if that’s from people getting a head start on tackling their financial situation next year or a change in the way FB recommends groups to people but either way it’s made for a really good month of content and interaction in the group. This is a freelance service that I really enjoy doing and I’m hoping to try and gain a few more clients for it in 2021.
Blogger Outreach and Project Co-ordination – £315.84
Do you know what keeps you busy in the festive season? Having a multi blogger and influencer project that runs from the first of December up until Christmas 🙈 It was great fun and we had some amazing work produced but it was a case of a lot of hours here and there work-wise which is a bit harder to manage (I now have a strategy for next time!) but we got there and it was a great success.
Product Photography- £60
This was a bit of a rush job at the start of December as there were some last-minute additions to a product line. I don’t have any photography work lined up for the new year but I will be helping to develop some new product designs which is exciting!
Blogging Income
Affiliates Earnings – £195.07 – What Is Affiliate Marketing?
This included my usual affiliates plus an extra payout from a sponsored deal I did at the very start of the year – the brand contacted me to let me know my post had generated some new sign-ups and asked me to send them an invoice. I still haven’t worked on my affiliate strategy…maybe I’ll get around to it next year.
Sponsored Posts – £510
This was for a post I did last month but the invoice got paid at the start of December. I’ve still not done any pitching to brands for work but I have been approached for some sponsored ops in the new year.
Paid ‘guest posts’ (aka Copy and Paste posts/Link Insertions) – £331.28 – Getting paid for link placements and ‘guest’ posts
It’s been a slow trickle of content and link placement emails this month, things do seem to have slowed down because of the festive period so it’ll be interesting to see how they pick up in Jan when everyone has renewed advertising budgets.
Brand Ambassador – £750 – Christmas DIY’s over on CraftHustleDirectory
I had a lot of fun with the tutorials posts for Design Bundles this month, I decided to add in a bit more video content to see how that did and it seemed to pay off! One of the TikTok videos I made has got 60k views and has translated into a lot of blog views which is amazing. I’ve got a meeting next week to discuss ideas for the 2021 content calendar and I’m really excited to see what we can do for the brand. I’d love to look into taking on more brand ambassador roles next year, it’s on my list of things to investigate and potentially pitch to companies.
Plans for January
My only real aim for January is to make sure we get the wheels really turning on buying the house, once we’ve got that sorted and a completion date set I’ll have a bit more headspace for everything else. Until that’s all sorted I’ll just keep going as I currently am, working as much as possible and working towards some fo the big goals I have set fo 2021
