My plan for April was to just try and get into the swing of working from home full-time and try and build a bit of a routine – I’d say I’ve half accomplished that.
I feel like I know what I’m doing with my days/weeks now but I don’t necessarily have a routine as such, I’ve quickly found that I can’t force myself to do work if I’m just not in the right headspace for it so I can’t always keep to a 9-5 type schedule. That’s not necessarily an issue but it’s a bit of an odd thing to get your head around when you’re so used to being told to work set hours each day, I end up feeling guilty if I need to take a bit of a longer break than usual or if I end up with spare time at the end of my day – I guess it’s just something I’ll get used to after a while but for now it still feels quite alien.
I managed to bring in an extra £1,354.55 in April
It’s important to note that this is before deductions – I pay tax on all my side hustle/self-employed earnings so put away around 25% a month to go towards my tax return.
Also, it’s worth remembering that the incomes stated here are based on when invoices got paid so even though it’s down as April income it for invoices that might have covered work from March.
Blogger Outreach and Project Co-ordination – £580.19
This was for work I did in March for the company I now freelance full time for, we had a few projects that needed some extra work on before I started fully on the 1st so I put in a few more hours to get stuff sorted. This won’t be listed on my next side hustle income report as it became my full-time regular wage this month (since it’ll be full time it’s no longer classed as a side hustle!)
Social Media & Community Management – £402.80
I now have two clients that I manage social media & community management for, it’s only for a few hours each month so I tend to do a bulk load of scheduling for them at the start of the month and then weekly ‘maintenance’ ongoing throughout the rest.
Small Business Mentor – £150
This is something I’m really enjoying doing at the moment, it’s fun to jump into someone’s business and take a look at some of the issue they are facing and give them a different perspective on things and work together to find a solution. Sometimes this means me coming in and creating a new way to organise processes and schedules, suggest a new approach to social media, look at ways they can expand their business or just have a general chit chat about what they want to achieve and a realistic way to get to that goal.
Affiliates Earnings – £30.00 – What Is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate income is down this month but will be good next month, this is just due to the dates that some of my most recent refferals tracked on (so what I’m trying to say is, over this and next month it actually averages out to a normal amount)
Paid ‘guest posts’ (aka Copy and Paste posts/Link Insertions) – £109.63- Getting paid for link placements and ‘guest’ posts
Not a ton of guest post work coming in again this month but still £100 isn’t to be sniffed at. Next month is looking to be better though as I’m already negotiating some jobs!
Get Blogged – £81.93
I had two post assignments from GetBlogged this month, both were nice and easy to do and as always I got paid within a day of submitting them. If you’re a blogger and you’re not signed up with GetBlogged then you could be missing out on some easy money, all you need to do is sign up to their site, fill in the details of you blog and then you can apply for assignments in their oppoutunities section (which is managed by GetBlogged themselves) or the Marketplace which is whre you can work with brands directly.
Plans for May
I’m not really sure! Maybe to just try and keep on top of things? I agreed quite a lot of work at the end of April to be done in May so its shaping up to be pretty busy so I just need to try and stay focused and get through it. I also want to try launching an Etsy shop if I can, selling custom garden cushions but who knows if I’ll have time!
